returning to the blog now after some time away and reflecting back its mad to think a few weeks previous i was detailing how the weather had impacted our sports season and left us without games with interest from the most part of the squad dwindling as a result. now with with the coronavirus epidemic shutting down college and sports alike it really does put things into perspective for me to see what really does matter, health and wellbeing. while sports is of great benefit to ones health and wellbeing, social distancing and protective measures have seen sports cancelled even at amatuer level where lower crowds and interaction are indeed a given. we got one match pl;ayed after the long break away and it was our cup semi final at home to wembley in our home pitch in knockainey. I found it hard getting back into match fitness but a steller effort from us as a collective unit kept the score down and left us in with a chance with the game gripped at 1-0 with 10 minutes to go i dislocated my knee in a hard physical and tried to continue but i had to be carried off injured to my utmost discontent and overall disapointment after waitinfg so long to have a game after some adverse weather. our main defender was then involved in a bust up with an opposition player with 8 minutes left he received a straight red card and with that our chances were gone and unfortunately we were knocked out of the cup. i came home disapointed over the result and very worried about how long my own injury would leave me ruled out for but now as it turns out all juniour soccer games are cancelled until April and with the seriousness of the current covid-19 situation in Ireland the ban on games could possibly continue well into the summer months. while i will feel quite lost being injured and without the sports i think i Need to adapt to this current lockdown.. ALL WE CAN DO IS ADAPT AND OVERCOME, I LIKE THE SOUND OF THAT.. STAY SAFE!
