After yet another week of postponed matches due to the severe weather conditions I had to sit at home and observe the football on tv as opposed to playing the match for my local team,. due to the adverse conditions we were only permitted to train this week on the astro turf and when it got to the weekend I found myself very unmotivated as a result of not having the game to compete and I noticed myself losing self discipline staying in bed well into the day. I suppose every body needs a lazy day now and again and thankfully with the weather improving we are fixed to play next Sunday in our home pitch in knockainey. so with a game to look forward to this week and a few more trainings keeping to plan this week will be more achievable and ive no doubt il be a lot more positive mentally with all the soccer to catch up on playing. one thing I did notice was the time I ended up spending a significant amount of time on social media at the weekend especially after watching some of the football games on tv. I logged into social media in the aftermath of the Liverpool game and I was surprised to see how much about this game was actually covered on social media outlets and I came to the conclusion that if I hadn’t watched the game on sky sports I would have easily being kept upto date on social media. the influx of fans commenting and posting about the games was significant especially after the Liverpool game where fans took the opportunity to get one over on the Liverpool fans after their first loss of the year. as an Arsenal fan I felt eager to join in on the banter and try get one back over in the Liverpool fans myself. I think the fact we are 10th in the premier league table didn’t help my case either or justify my taunts at the Liverpool loss. while all of this was indeed great banter and compelling in its own way and form I became aware that I had just spent over two hours engaging in football debate on social media. it had only felt like 10 minutes until I took note of the time spent slagging Liverpool ha. But spending such a continuous amount of time on social media can take its toll on someone all the same and when I logged off it I noticed my feelings of wanting to log back on straight away. social media can be both a useful and time consuming distraction. it can be addictive too and I do sometimes become aware of the time I spend on it And I ensure to log off for spaces of two hours in order to not get too anxious or distracted as a result of it. I’m here thinking if Arsenal lose their next match I may log off it for good as its all banter in football until your team is the topic of fun and mockery online ha. that’s all for now take care of yourself and remember breaks from social media usage does help to ease ones anxiety.
